 PASSIVE

Active: People grow coffee in Colombia.
Passive: Coffee is grown in Colombia by (people).
  
CHANGES:
- Direct object becomes the subject.
- The verb: verb to be in the same verb tense as the rmain verb + participle.
- Subject becomes  by-agent (By-agent: is omitted when it is not specific: somebody, people...)


VERB CHANGES                                                             

Present simple: Am/is/are + participle
Present continuous: Am/is/are + being + participle
Past simple: Was/were + participle
Past continuous: Was/were + being +participle
Present perfect:  Have/has + been + participle
Present perfect continuous: Have/has + been + being + participle
Past perfect:  Had been + participle
Future simple: Will + be + participle
Modal verb:  Modal + be + participle
Future going to: Am/is/are + going to + be + participle
 
  • Passive with a direct object.
- Millions of people speak English all over the world.
- English is spoken all over the world by millions of people.
  • Passive with 2 objects [ Direct and indirect]
- He gave me some money.
CI: I was given some money.
CD: Some money was given to me.
